Noah's Ark Family Clinic In Uganda, many people are ill due to the combination of poverty, malnutrition and limited knowledge of good hygiene and diseases. Shortages of clean water and poor sanitation is a major problem. In addition, many people do not have the money to go to hospital to get treatment.

Since September 2009, our own new clinic has been started: Noah's Ark Family Clinic. This clinic is for our own children, for schoolchildren and people from the villages around us. The clinic has a number of examination rooms, a small surgeryroom, a delivery room, a pharmacy and a laboratory.
Dr. Fahad is in overall charge of the clinic and the laboratory is run by Renske, a permanent employee from the Netherlands. There are also a midwife, nurse, social workers and a secretary. The advantage of a clinic on our site is mainly that we save many trips to Kampala. Furthermore, we can mean something for the poorest villagers around Noah's ark. They have no money to pay a doctor, so they can pay us with chicken, vegetables or other food. So they can still be helped. Every Wednesdayafternoon we go on a kind of 'outreach' to a village. During this outreach, several issues will be raised, such as: hygiene, family planning, nutrition, etcetera. Now the new kids can get a medical examination, immediately after arrival at Noah's Ark. Many children have a greatly reduced health at arrival. In addition, malaria is common for these children.

Mother and child Furthermore, we also want to focus on pregnant women and their newborn baby. Every month more than 500 women die in Uganda at the birth of their baby. Afterwards these children only have a small chance to survive and grow up healthy. We ask all pregnant women to come for prenatal care and delivery assistance. We will try all we can to do to reduce unnecessary deaths among women in childbirth. We assist these women during pregnancy and hope thereby to get physically stronger women, who are healthy enough to a deliver a healthy baby (and not malnourished at birth already). The women can give birth in the clinic. We also have treatmentprograms for babies and small children. We give advice on nutrition and childhooddiseases. And children can be vaccinated.
