We could call it an extension of the children's home. When children grow up, their needs are changing, which counts also for the children in the children's home. To meet the children in their needs we decided to let the children from around 7 years old 'graduate' from the babyhome to the Family Unit.
In this Family Unit the children are living in a kind of familystructure. It is a house with about 8 to 10 children and a caregiver / mother. In this structure the children learn to take care of their own stuff, like clothes, toys, etcetera. . A number of householdtasks are also part of the program, such as doing the dishes, cleaning up, etcetera.  Good coaching is very important. This is the concern of the mother / caregiver and the social worker. In addition, learning to deal with and appreciate a 'normal' familylife is very important as well. Therefore, a cozy livingroom with furniture, tv, dvd player, toys and even a computer is indispensable. An open kitchen with a bar and diningtable makes it a real youth-house.




Every unit exists of four bedrooms with an own bed, closet for clothes and personal belongings for each child, and a shared bathroom and toilet. There is  a large veranda as well, in order to sit outside, to do homework or to play. With all this, and electricity, water, a fridge and cookingfacilities it becomes a real Family Unit.
The children continue to be part of the Noah's Ark family, because their house is on the same site as the children's home.
