What would the future bring if the children lacked education?
They wouldn't  have a future!
For many children in Uganda this is the reality, because there are not enough schools. In addition, education is too expensive and generally of poor quality.

Is the school able to help more children?
It is through the school that we can help more children, by which they can continue to stay in their own environment. Research has determined how the social conditions in the villages around us are. We live just outside the city. Many people who live here, in this country with much poverty, belong to the social minority. No work and little to no land of their own. Grandparents who have to take care of children who aren not accepted in the family or whose parents died, mainly because of AIDS. All around us we see poverty and misery. Children who grow up in such families have little or no perspective. And they are precisely our goal!

As a children's home we tell the people: don't throw your children away, never give up your family. As a school we bring hope for the future by good education. We involve parents and caregivers in order to let them also benefit from our message. We are an example to other schools.

What else is there for the children?
The schoolhours are from 8 am to 4 pm. We offer a computerclass and library. We can use the schoolyard for sports and games and there is a large playground. We have a footballteam and a volleyballteam. They play matches against other schools, which is a great succes!
During lunch, the children receive a good meal. This is very important, because unfortunately for many children this is the only meal of the day. At home, there is often no money for food. Each child has a toothbrush and toothpaste at school, so after dinner they can brush their teeth. We also treat the children against malaria, skin diseases, diarrhea, etcetera in our clinic.

A school ... not only for children but for parents and caregivers as well?
There are no schoolfees to be paid, but parents and caregivers pay with a part of their time. They take care of the schoolyard, the plants, trees, flowers and grass. They clean the school and work on roads within and outside the project. By this, we hope to create a spirit of solidarity, which will be continued at home. And little by little something is started up: taking care together, taking care for each other and the environment.
We also give lessons to parents and caregivers. This in order to reduce the illiteracy, which is very high in Uganda. This allows the children to transfer the things they learned at school better at home.

We organise projectweeks or projectmonths to educate in a more practically way. The subjects we use are for example:  clean drinking ater, proper toilets, hygiene, health and diseases, recycling, planting trees and taking care of them, new ways of farming, repairing clothes, inheritance, human rights and much more.
For Christmas and other Holidays the children study a whole program to present this to their parents and caregivers during a big event.
